Itinerary

The First Day: Cusco – Santa María

The tour begins at 8 AM with a pick-up at you laga Pass (4,316 meters above sea level). This is where we begin our bicycle tour r hotel to drive in our private van for three hours until we arrive to the Ma down the mountain. Your guide will give a quick information briefing and provide all riders with the appropriate safety gear before the 3-hour mountain decent (about 34 miles or 55 km) to the town Santa Maria, Where you will also have the option to go rafting (level III and IV) in the Urubamba River, which crosses through part of the jungle. Finally we have accomodation at hostal where we sleep.

The Second Day: Santa Maria – Santa Teresa

Today, after breakfast you will walk for 7 hour, passing by small villages and nice view in the way to esjoy the atmosphere of cloud forest.

At the end of the day you will arrive in Santa Teresa, where we will sleep. The main attraction are the hot springs of Cocalmayo. Where you can relax your self after long hours treking.

The Third Day: Santa Teresa – Aguas Calientes

After breakfast, at approximately 7 AM, we will begin our hike to the small town of Aguas Calientes.

We will walk for 6 hours along the path and we will have the opportunity to see a series of waterfalls and admire the majesty of the mountains surrounding Machupicchu and Haynapicchu, then we will arrive in Aguas Calientes alongside the train tracks that lead to the small town.

The Fourth Day: Sunrise in Machupicchu

This is the most important day of the tour – the day that we arrive to one of the 7 Wonders of the World. Our last day of the tour begins very early in the morning in order to be able to watch the sun rise over the Inca citadel of Machupicchu. We begin the ascent from Aguas Calientes to Machupicchu at 4:30 AM, with the option of hiking the 1,500 Inca´s teps or paying a $12 bus fare to reach the citadel. Once inside the park, your guide will provide a 2-hour tour of the ruins and most important temples within the ancient city. Afterwards, you will be free to explore Machupicchu by your self.

On your own time, you will need to return to Hidroelectrica (via stairs and walking) in order to take a return train to Ollantaytambo and after to Cusco.

  • Optional activities: Trekking to Huaynapicchu (mountain belong to Machupicchu)

  • Lunch on the last day: after the guided tour at Machupicchu, you can enjoy free time.
  • Rafting and Zip line
  • Entrance fee to Huaynapicchu & Montaña
  • Train Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo (add USD90.00)
  • Optional train from Hidroelectrica to Machupicchu town.
  • Tips: please beware that our agency staff are paid, so please feel free to tip or not according to your wish.

You should bring:

  • Sun block cream, mosquitos repellent.
  • Original passport
  • A backpack with a change of clothing for the whole period of the trek  Rain gear (jacket and pants if available) or rain poncho.
  • Strong footwear, waterproof trekking boots recommended
  • Flashlight and batteries
  • Camera, films and batteries (batteries consume more quickly under cold conditions)
  • Hat or cap to protect you from the sun, rain and cold
  • Toilet paper
  • Snacks: biscuits, energy bars, chocolate, raw fruits, muesli, etc.
  • Swimming suit (if you intend to go to the hot springs in Aguas Calientes or cocallmayo).
  • Cash in soles or US$ (no ATM machines in Santa Teresa).
