Tambopata Express in Ecolucerna Lodge 2 Days / 1 Night

Ecolucerna is a cozy hostel that is located in the southern Amazon jungle of Peru, next to the exuberant Tambopata National Reserve in the Madre de Dios region. 1 hour and 30 minutes by boat from the city of Puerto Maldonado. A pollution-free environment that offers its visitors incredible experiences and the opportunity to meet a variety of species of birds, mammals, reptiles, insects and trees during their stay.

Tambopata express is perfect for those with little time. The program summarizes the magic and charm with experts who will share their knowledge of the Peruvian Amazon.

Day 01: Arrival in Puerto Maldonado / Forest Walk / Night Safari

The journey begins when you arrive in Puerto Maldonado and are transferred to embark on an outboard boat along the Madre de Dios River to Ecolucerna Lodge (approximately 1 ½ hrs river down). Upon arrival you will enjoy a tasty lunch made from organic ingredients and native flavors. After lunch you will take a walk through the natural trails, where you will discover and learn about the primary and secondary forest, its components, uses, man-made transformations, and its

relevance to the world. At night you will have an interesting night excursion, you will navigate the Madre de Dios River, to know its ecosystem, Amazonian streams, the behavior of the nocturnal fauna on the banks of the river.

Returning to the Lodge, you will enjoy a restorative traditional dinner. Food: Lunch and dinner 

Day 02: Lake Sandoval / Return to Puerto Maldonado

Today you will live a day of many emotions, after having a nutritious breakfast, you will get ready for a walk along the Tambopata National Reserve, which will lead you to Lake Sandoval. Here you will understand why Madre de Dios is known as the capital of Peru’s biodiversity. You will learn about the conservation work of the Reserve and about the formation of the lake, navigating by canoe through this water mirror, home to the endangered giant otter, the blue and yellow macaw, and one of the freshwater fish largest in the world “El Paiche”. Without a doubt, a unique experience that ends with lunch in the middle of the Lake that, together with its magic, will relax you. We begin the return to the river and take our boat in the direction of Puerto Maldonado, where you can wait for the flight or car to depart to your next destination.
