Itinerary
We will visit the impressive archaeological complex of Moray, a kind of biological/genetic research laboratory for Andean products. We will also visit the Salineras de Maras, the most impressive salt mines that have been worked in an artisanal way since the Inca era and provide this important product to the entire southern region of the country.
MARAS: is located in the province of Urubamba at 3300 m.a.s.l. Today, this picturesque town preserves attractions from the pre-Hispanic, colonial and republican periods, highlighting the town’s colonial streets and doorways with shields of the nobles and chieftains of the 17th and 18th centuries. In this same district are the famous Maras salt mines that are an economic pillar of local families, as well as their ancestors.
MORAY: A unique archaeological group of its kind in the region. These are gigantic natural holes that were used by the Incas who built agricultural terraces or platforms with their respective irrigation channels. It is therefore a prototype of a greenhouse. The largest hole is 150 meters deep. This is where incredible advances in agriculture were made.
